My fascination with Japanese culture started as a child, when my uncle retired from the US Navy. He was stationed in Osaka, Japan, and married a Japanese woman who peppered my childhood with tidbits of Japanese life.

Today, I’m as interested as ever. This article on Japanese living spaces at PingMag is great. The author notes that he couldn’t determine a standard Japanese “style,” but did notice some similarities, like the tendency to cover windows (which my aunt and uncle don’t do) and keep obscure Japanese food in the ‘fridge (which they do. In fact, they have very little “American food.”).

I love exploring foreign cultures – the more “foreign” the better. Once I’ve made my millions, I’ll spend the rest of my days travelling the world.
