I have two humble wishes for the next iPhone update. The first is about YouTube, which works well on the iPhone – unless you’re in Safari. Sometimes I’ll receive a link to a YouTube video in email or Twitter. When I click it on the iPhone, it opens Safari and brings up the YouTube page. Of course, there’s no Flash support on the iPhone, so all I get is an error message.
Which is ridiculous, because the iPhone plays YouTube videos just fine. What I want is for the iPhone to launch the YouTube application whenever I click a link to a YouTube video in email, Twitter, whatever.
The second is for Mail. As Brad Kellett mentioned, you can quickly jump to the top of a webpage in Mobile Safari by touching the menu bar. However, the same isn’t true for Mail; when I’m at the bottom of a long list of messages, I must scroll back to the top. I’d like to be able to jump to the top of the list with a tap.
I don’t know how difficult that will be to code these features, but, you know…get on it.
