This and your post over at TUAW on the iPad for bloggers was kind of eye opening and also the reason I haven't gotten one yet. It's disappointing to see that the iPad doesn't have a good wordpress app yet, and I'm not really happy with how the iPad handles images/photos and sharing (or rather, not wirelessly syncing) data between a base Mac and the device itself. I guess it's just in product infancy at this point, but these are the things that are keeping me away from the iPad for the time being. Somehow I think by this time next year I'll be using one though :)

Actually I think they saw it as validation they were right, LOOK we did research it was a REAL GUY.

"SEE? here's his facebook! Here's his flickr! he's real! This is real!"

So it was not only a dick move, it was a narcissistic one.

I think the DICKIEST move was the follow up letter apologizing for outing him and wishing him the best. Talk about insincere, and rubbing salt in the wound.

Powell needs to sue them for everything they have.

I don't like that Gizmodo published his information, but I don't think they ended his career. If his career was damaged it was going to be so even before they did that. It isn't like Apple didn't know who lost the phone and if he were fired from Apple he would have to explain that every time he applied for a job and I'm sure it would have been an open secret around the tech industry in the area anyway.

However by publishing it they invited the whole world to nose around his Facebook, his Flickr photos, his Twitter and basically dig all around his life in ways that would not have happened otherwise. That is the part I don't like. There was no reason to do that.

You bring up a great point about user cases. I've been wondering how I will be able to integrate an iPad into my workflow. Does it mean replacing my MBP with an iPad, for couch surfing and light writing, and an iMac, tricked out with max ram, for design and illustration? Will I be able to create useable illustrations on the iPad with apps like Sketchbook and a stylus, or at least use it as a portable sketchbook? So many options, and the apps, in many cases, will drive the answer.
