I disqualified anything by They Might Be Giants - too easy. Baby Got Back almost made the list, but not the original, the Jonathan Coulton cover. Same with 'My Humps' - Allanis Morissette style.

1.) Find me somebody to love - not the Queen album version, the George Michaels version from 1993 at Wembley Stadium. It's amazing.

2.) Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Eva Cassidy. Very moving, not very tough guy.

3.) Oh Yeah! by Yello. Because Ferris Beuller is a righteous dude.

4.) Cantaloop by US3. It's just got that great Herbie Hancock groove. Someday I'll have to get the original that the sample came from, Cantaloup Island.

5.) Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi. I saw Jon Bonjovi and Ritchie Sambora do this one unplugged and thought, "wow, this dude actually seems like he might be a musician". It captures the 'touring' experience without quite so much of the 'oh poor me' whining that makes me want to smack Bob Seger and say, "if it's that excruciating being a 'Rock Star' then quit".

6.) Still of the Night by Whitesnake. First CD I ever owned. I still crank it when it comes on the radio.

7.) Poor Heart by Phish. It's just so darn catchy.

8.) Closer by Nine Inch Nails. Trent is really refreshing in sharing his feelings. Communication is important in any relationship.

9.) Hand of the Almighty by John R. Butler. It's a cute little ditty about what awaits when you disobey the will of the almighty. Not really a good one for those Sunday School classes.

10.) The Dream by David Sanborn. As an alto sax player, he was our 'Eddie Van Halen' in high school marching band. Much of what he does might be construed as 'cheezy', but boy can he play.

I haven't written a list yet, and not sure when I'll have time, but the first song on it would be "Faith" by George Michael. Horrible, I know, but in 5th grade my best friend and I both bought the tape and would play it full blast in her room and dance around like idiots. My mom took away my copy when she heard it-turns out she only let me buy it because she thought it was Christian music!! He has a cross earring in his ear on the cover! :-) She gave it back eventually.

Uh, everybody loves Baby Got Back. Ain't no shame!

I don't necessarily have songs I love that I hate, but every once in a while a song comes on in the grocery store and I'm singing all the words like it's my favorite damn song EVER... and the next thing I know I'm asking myself how the hell I know all the words to 'Wake Me Up Before You Go Go.'

I do confess to knowing every word to every Duran Duran album, and the entire Grease soundtrack. I'll probably be humming that crap on my deathbed.
